How do I update version of the Screen Notes?
- Exit the program, if it is running at the moment.
- Install newer version in the same folder, that older one.
- When you start the program again, all data and parameters of old version will be restored.

Will my notes be saved after the shutdown of computer?
Certainly! Besides notes which were opened at the shutdown of computer will be opened after its starting. |
At opening of the before saved note is a text restored only?
Both a text, and a color, and dimensions and position of the window on the screen, will be restored. Also the note font will be restored. |
But how can I save a note?
Saving is not necessary! At closing of note all will be saved automatically! |
For example, there 5 notes are opened on the screen, and then 5 buttons will appear on Taskbar?
On your Taskbar buttons will not appear at all, to occupy not it. |
What color can I set for my notes?
As the Screen Notes program imitates paper sticks, you can use standard colors for paper notes: pale yellow (by default), pale blue, pale green, pinky and white.
But since 3.0 version you can set any color of note! |
How to change the color of note?
In the opened note click by a mouse on a picture in the left top corner of note and in an appearing menu choose "Color >> _The_color_you_prefer_" |
Must I remove reminder after reminding has occurred?
No, you must not. After reminding has occurred, reminder for this note is removed automatically.

How do I change reminder sound?
(Version 2.5 and newer)
There are two ways to do it:
- At the Main program window use the main menu items: “Service > Reminder sound > Customize… (Test, Restore default sound)”.
Also you can use the same popup menu items as well.
- At the “Set time” window (where you set reminder time) use the “Open sound file”, “Test”, “Restore default sound” buttons.

If I have set too long reminder sound, how can I stop it?
(Version 2.5 and newer)
Simply click on your note!

How can I fill in automatically the “To address” field, when I send my note by e-Mail?
(Version 2.5 and newer)
If your note contents a line starting with “To:”, this string will be removed from message body and inserted into the “To Address” field (without “To:” text).

How can I NOT to fill in automatically the “Subject” field, when I send my note by e-Mail?
(Version 2.5 and newer)
Because the “Subject” field will content the first line of your note, just leave the first line of your note empty.

How can I start the Screen Notes when Windows starts?
By the program installing this option is turned ON automatically. But if you wouldn't like this you are able to turn this option off. To do it, choose in the Main menu the "Service > Start when Windows starts" item. In this way you are able to turn this option on, as well. |
Is it needed to turn this option on?
We recommend to do it. Thus a program icon will be placed in a system tray (near clock) and through it all functions of the program will be accessible for you. In this case notes which were opened at the moment of shutdown of computer will be opened at the next Windows start. Moreover, reminder function could work only while the program runs.
But finally only you can decide it for yourself. |
How many the Screen Notes program costs?
Starting from version 2.1, the Screen Notes program is shareware. You may try it for a trial period (30 days) costless. If you use this program for a longer time than the specified trial period (30 days), you are expected to register it. Otherwise you must stop using of the program and delete all its copies you have.
A licensed version of this product includes the permanent right to use the product for an unlimited time.
A license costs only $14.95.
Additionally, older free version (1.5) is still available for download. You may use it absolutely free for an unlimited time!

How do I update version of the Doc Organizer?

Can I create own categories or must use standard ones only?
There is only one standard category in the Doc Organizer. It is named "No category". Exactly here new documents are added, if you drag'n'drop new document into the program, but onto "empty place". You can neither rename nor delete this category. You create all other categories independently. You can rename or delete them later. |
How many subcategory levels it is allowed?
Levels amount is not limited! You create them how many you need. |

How do I copy an item into other category?
Simply drag it by mouse to needed place, keeping the «Ctrl» key down when dragging. |
I placed a document in a few categories. Means it, that a real file (folder) will be doubled on a hard disk?
Nowise! A real file (folder) remains on its place. Links are added to the program only. You can have such links how many you want. |
How can I add whole directories (folders) into the program?
In the same way, as files: by dragging them with mouse. But there is a difference. If you use 3.0 (and older) version, you'll get a query message (see the next question for detailes). In the 3.1 (and newer) version small menu will popup. In this menu you can choose the same options, as in the query message (see the next question for detailes). |
I try to drag a folder with mouse into the program and get the query - "Add content of folder [Folder_Name] as separate documents?" What means it?
It means that you can choose two variants of adding: either to add all files of this folder, as separate documents (click "Yes" button in this case), or to add this folder wholly, as one document (click "No" button if so) — i.e. opening of its icon from the prorgam will open this folder at Windows Explorer. |
How can I add hyperlinks (URLs) to program?
(Version 3.0 and newer)
The way of adding a hyperlinks depends on your browser.
- If your browser supports hyperlinks drag'n'drop (for example, Internet Explorer), you may drag hyperlink from browser into the Doc Organizer window and drop it onto green region with globe image.
- Otherwise you are able to add hyperlinks via Windows clipboard:
just copy its URL, and then click the "Add URL from clipboard" button.

How can I move/copy real files on hard disk?
(Version 3.0 and newer)
At first, you need to "Folders" window be shown: click "Show folders" button. Then open needed directory in this window and drag'n'drop document you want onto proper folder. To copy one, keep the «Ctrl» key down when dragging.

How can I delete the real file (folder) to Windows Recycle?
(Version 3.0 and newer)
Click the "Delete from hard disk" button. File (folder) will be moved to Windows Recycle, and document linking to this file (folder) will be removed from the program. If there are yet other documents in the program linking the same file, you will be asked to confirm removing all these documents.

How can I use the additional user field-sign?
(Version 3.3 and newer)
At first, you have to assign a title and possible values for this field, using the "Options" window. (For example, you could assign "Importance" as title, and "High", "Normal", "Low" words as possible values.)
After that you can use item's pop-up menu for assigning value to the item. When you need, you can both sort items on this field and search ones by it.
